What we say: Socks with treads are a fun, funky way to keep kids’ feet nice and snug all year long. With so many colors and patterns to suit any kids’ tastes, and skid-free treads on the bottom to prevent slips, you can’t go wrong. And besides, those fuzzy slippers can be a pain to wash!

~ Another option? Foot Petals Rose Petal Plusheez Socks, $12.99, from Target. The ultra-soft plushy fabric promises spa-like relief for little tootsies and the socks have slip-free petal-shaped bottom treads to keep little ones from sliding. They come in pale pink, one size fits most.

~ MP Danish Non-Skid Socks, $8.95, Amazon.com. This Danish company makes striped no-skid socks that could even help make your child smarter. Instead of regular treads on the bottom MP uses ones in the shape of numbers to keep the socks from slipping. 

~ For boys, I Kid’s Size Animal Non Skid Socks , $6.99, Absolute Ties. Not only are the socks bright and colorful, but there are so many animals to choose from--monkeys, geckos, koalas, and elephants—oh my!
