Household Lead Test Kit: Mom Style
February 10, 2008 07:00 PM

The Lowdown: With all the recent recalls on kid’s toys, many of them due to lead paint, it’s no wonder that you might be worried about your children’s toys. Home lead tests can be volatile and the testing sticks can easily get damaged during transport so be careful. Also, read the instructions carefully. Most kits only give 2 to 4 swabs per pack within a limited time frame so get the toys lined up before you open the package.
What We Say: My mom sent me one of these kits a few weeks ago and they worked well. I tested several of my daughter’s wooden painted toys and found none of them to contain lead. Remember, if you’re in doubt, just simply get rid of the toy!
