The Lowdown: To be honest, Trick or Treat for UNICEF had completely slipped my mind until I saw a post at 5 Minutes for Mom. My bambino isn’t big enough to go trick or treating so I’ve haven’t really been gearing up for Halloween. But suddenly I remember how much the UNICEF boxes were a part of my Halloweens when I was a child. Here are some facts about where the money your child collects can do :

• ~ $1 can immunize a child for life against measles.


• ~ $17 can immunize one child for life against 6 child-killing diseases.


• ~ $24 can buy 4 mosquito nets, protecting children against malaria.

The Bottom Line: It’s a great way to a) raise money for UNICEF; b) get your child involved in an important cause; and c) distract your kid from the copious amounts of candy that will be dumped into their outstretched pillowcases.
